One of the newest artists in the industry, JAHKOY, has recently signed

with Def Jam Records, graced us here with his presence in Charlotte,

the Queen City.

JAHKHOY is a Canadian native who has informed us that his music

should be known as having a “bipolar sound”. Yet this “bipolar” music

appears to be ideal, and can attract many no matter the style or

preference of music.

This Canadian native hit the music scene in 2013 post writing music

and placing it in a non genre category due to its idyllic combo sound.

One of 6 kids growing up in Toronto Canada, he has set a trend in his

household/family as being a leader and lover of music giving off a

positive mixture of sound and just creating “feel good” music that can

be played any and everywhere.

JAHKOY, what does “bi polar music” mean?

“There are so many sounds. There is Rock, R&B, Rap music etc. There

are so many fusions of sound that it is hard to label my music as such.

Especially with the technology of music we have. You can have country

chords and throw in some hip hop chords over that. Then what do you

label the music as, country or hip hop? Remember when Jay-Z and

Lincoln Park linked up? They did the Rock and Hip Hop thing. It was a

fusion of good music. It was like great collaborations coming together

and delivering great music. So, I want to eliminate genres all together

and just say that music is “bipolar” and just delivering goodness.”

It’s always great to know which artist plays a major role in one’s

creativity whether it’s style or dress or even sound. Please give a little

insight.

“It’s opposite for America and Canada. In Canada music is first then

looks or style are second. In America most focus on the appearance

more than the music of the artist.”

Who are the artists who influence your music most?

“Kanye, Pharell, Andre 3000, and Craig David who does a lot of

futuristic R&B. Craig David’s music is in a world of its own. I don’t want

anyone to say I sound like anyone else. I just want to be me. I just want

them to say the new JAHKOY is here.”

Some of JAHKOY’s music includes “Odd Future”, “Poison”. “Still in

Love”, “Wine” & “All of You”. Stay tuned in. There’s so much more to

come for JAHKOY!
